National Geographic Channels star of Life Below Zero, Jessie Holmes, of Nenana, Alaska got off to a great start in this years Iditarod.
The alaskan rookie, was the first out of the checkpoint at Rainy Pass, and continues to do very well for his first ever attempt at the 1000+ mile sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome.
With the well known veterans, Lance Mackey and Dallas Seavey, not competing this year, the field is open for anyone to win the race.
The winner is expected to take up to 10 days to complete the gruelling trek over Alaskas snow covered land, with some in previous years finishing in less than 9 days.
