Equipment
You may want to consider stocking up on a few things before bringing your new Siberian puppy home.
Firstly, you will need somewhere for your new puppy to sleep. The best item you can purchase for this job is a crate. Buy the biggest one, you can afford, or alternatively the largest one you can fit in your car, as you may at some time want to take your puppy out in the car. Crates are not cruel and provide the puppy with its very own living space and can be very useful when it comes to training.
You will also need some bowls, at least one for the food and one for water.
A collar and lead is not required right away, as the puppy shouldnt really be venturing too far until it has had all its initial vaccinatons. It doesnt hurt though to get the pup used to a collar and lead as soon as possible.
Be very careful when selecting toys for your husky puppy. Most of the fluffy, squeaky toys available are unsuitable for a puppies sharp teeth and may cause damage to a young dog if it gets stuck in the throat. The safest and most durable toys are made by Nylabone and some are virtually indestructible. Not only providing value for money but allowing a young teething husky to play without the fear of choking.
Once a puppy starts to go for longer walks, you could invest in some sort of harness. There are many different styles available, from the working x-backs to simple walking harnesses stocked by most pet shops.
