Husky Hips
Hip dysplasia can be an inherited condition and is common in certain breeds.
In essence, this is a poorly formed hip joint that may result in dislocation and osteoarthritic changes which are very painful. Dogs that suffer from hip dysplasia can have limited movement and a resulting poor quality of life, so the condition should be avoided at all costs.
Siberian Huskies generally have very good hips, but hip x-rays should be taken of those dogs that are intended to be bred from, both sire and dam, in order to maintain low scores and the health of the breed in which free movement is so essential.
